The UAE condemns in the strongest terms the targeting of the Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan
Abu Dhabi, 10 March / WAM / The UAE expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the treacherous terrorist attack carried out by a drone, which targeted the General Consulate of the UAE in Iraqi Kurdistan, and resulted in collateral damage but no casualties were recorded.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that targeting diplomatic missions and headquarters is a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees complete immunity for diplomatic buildings and their employees, which constitutes a dangerous escalation and threat to regional security and stability.
The Ministry also stressed that the UAE requests the government of the brotherly Republic of Iraq and the government of Iraqi Kurdistan to investigate the circumstances of this attack to determine the parties responsible for it, and to take all necessary measures to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The Ministry stressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of such treacherous attacks aimed at destabilizing security and stability, stressing the need to protect diplomatic headquarters, missions and their workers in accordance with international laws and norms.
