The President of Cyprus receives Abdullah bin Zayed and they discuss strategic relations and regional developments

Nicosia, 10 March / WAM / His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, received His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Konstantinos Kompos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, during a working visit by His Highness to Nicosia.

During the meeting, His Highness conveyed to His Excellency the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and his wishes for Cyprus and its people continued progress and prosperity, stressing the depth of relations between the two countries.

The meeting discussed the repercussions of the brutal Iranian missile attacks on the UAE, the Republic of Cyprus, and sister and friendly countries in the region.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that this visit came with the aim of confirming the UAE’s full solidarity with the Republic of Cyprus in the wake of these brutal Iranian missile attacks.

His Highness also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides for his country’s full solidarity with the UAE.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in a number of sectors, including economic, trade and investment, in addition to renewable energy, technology, tourism and education, in a way that supports sustainable development paths in the two countries.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the strength of the UAE-Cyprus strategic relations and the continuous development they are witnessing in various fields, noting the UAE’s keenness to strengthen its partnerships with the friendly Republic of Cyprus in a way that supports the aspirations of the two countries to achieve comprehensive development and greater economic prosperity for their people.

During the meeting, the UAE-European cooperation relations were also discussed, especially with the Republic of Cyprus assuming the presidency of the European Union Council during the year 2026.

The two sides touched on the importance of the strategic relations between the UAE and the European Union, and the continuous endeavor to enhance cooperation and constructive dialogue in a way that contributes to expanding the horizons of partnership in various fields, serves common interests and supports efforts to achieve regional and global peace, stability and prosperity.
