المملكة: Mecca Towers resets the hands of Iftar… 3 minutes protects the fasting of Umrah pilgrims

Faculty member suggested The month of Ramadan, to ensure that residents of the upper floors break their fast with The tall towers who see the sun after it sets from the ground floor.
Dr. Al-Misnad attributed this problem to the reliance in calculating prayer calendars on location coordinates at sea level, which is something whose effect does not appear in flat areas.
He explained that the widening of the visible horizon increases directly with height above the surface of the Earth, which keeps the disk of the sun visible on the upper floors for a longer time compared to those living on the lower floors.
Time variation
Dr. Al-Misnad pointed out that the time discrepancy is clearly evident in cities with vertical urban expansion, taking Mecca and the clock tower, which reaches a height of 601 meters, as a living example of the difference in sunset time by several minutes.
He developed a practical solution, which is to delay the call to prayer according to the official calendar of the Holy Capital, thus achieving the goal of jurisprudential precaution in worship, given the difficulty of setting an independent time for each floor.
Time differences
He emphasized that the temporary nature of the pilgrims and Umrah visitors to these towers makes it difficult to raise awareness of time differences, which makes a unified solution an urgent necessity to keep pace with urban development in major cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah.
