Sharjah Electricity will carry out comprehensive maintenance for 200 transmission and distribution stations in 2025
Sharjah, 12 March / WAM / The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, represented by the Energy Transmission Department, implemented periodic maintenance programs for more than 200 transmission and distribution stations during the year 2025, to enhance the reliability of the electrical network and raise the efficiency of energy transmission stations in line with best international practices.
Engineer Hamad Al Taniji, Director of the Energy Transmission Department, explained that the Authority is continuing its efforts to strengthen the electrical network and conduct periodic and preventive maintenance work through qualified technical teams, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of ensuring the stability of the network and providing high-quality services.
For his part, Engineer Abdullah Al-Kous, Deputy Director of the Energy Transmission Department, confirmed that the maintenance program included maintaining 144 stations with voltages of 132 and 33 kilovolts, modernizing the protection systems by replacing 45 relays, renewing and treating the oil for 23 transformers, examining the safety of 45 transformers, renewing the batteries in 40 stations, replacing voltage converters in 24 transformers, in addition to operating the dynamic transformer with a voltage of 220 kilovolts in the folding station, and converting Overhead lines between Al Tayyah station and Industrial 17 station are connected to ground cables to enhance reliability.
Al-Kous pointed out that all maintenance, replacement and renewal work depends on specialized technical teams, with the application of modern maintenance concepts to ensure high operational efficiency, professional safety, increase the life span of equipment, and improve the quality of the electrical network in the Emirate of Sharjah.
