“Identity and Nationality” allows residents whose residency has ended abroad to enter the country without a new visa

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security decided to allow the return of residents outside the country whose residency has expired and the current conditions in the region prevented their return to the country due to the air closure, for a period of one month, starting from February 28, 2026.
The authority explained that the decision includes all cases of residents abroad whose residency expired as of February 28, 2026 while they were abroad and were unable to return to the country due to the closure of airspace or the suspension of flights. This decision applies for a period of one month until March 31, 2026, ensuring that they can enter the country during that period without the need to request a new entry visa, which allows them to address their legal situations without placing any financial burdens on them as a result of these exceptional circumstances beyond their control.
The authority indicated that this decision comes in response to the exceptional circumstances beyond the control of residents who are abroad and were unable to return and renew their residency on time due to the closure of airspace and the disruption of global air traffic, noting that this decision reflects the authority’s emphasis on commitment to the humanitarian approach adopted by the UAE in dealing with emergency cases and reducing the burdens on residents of the country and enabling them to continue their lives, build their future and contribute to the process of sustainable development adopted by the UAE, in addition to its keenness to reunite resident families. Embodying the values and principles of the “Year of the Family” by giving the opportunity to the head of the family or one of its members residing abroad whose residency has expired to return again and continue his journey among his family.
The authority explained its commitment and continuation of implementing emergency and business continuity plans at work sites and airports in the country to ensure facilitating procedures and addressing cases related to the postponement or rescheduling of flights, and providing the necessary support to residents affected by these circumstances.
The authority called on all concerned to follow the official channels to be informed of any developments or regulatory procedures related to these circumstances, stressing its commitment to continue working according to the highest levels of readiness and response to ensure the continuity of services and provide the necessary support to travelers and visitors in various circumstances.
