Spain competes with Morocco for the Real Madrid star

The Spanish Football Federation moved to keep Real Madrid’s young midfielder Thiago Pitarch, in light of attempts by the Moroccan side to convince him to represent the Atlas Lions team during the coming period.

Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa recently decided to promote Petarch to support the midfield in the first team, taking advantage of the major crisis the team is suffering due to successive injuries, in addition to his conviction of the player’s technical abilities and potential, which attracted attention within the Royal Club.

Spanish press reports stated that Pitarch was included in the preliminary list of the Spain U-21 national team in preparation for the international break during the current month of March, in a step that reflects the Spanish Federation’s desire to secure the player’s international future.

This comes at a time when the Moroccan Federation continues its attempts to convince the player to carry the Moroccan national team jersey, based on his family origins, as his family’s roots go back to the city of Al Hoceima in Morocco.

Despite these efforts, reports indicate that the player is inclined to represent the Spanish national team, which is the same position taken by the young Barcelona star Lamine Yamal when he chose to play for the Spanish national team instead of the Moroccan national team.

Petarch participated with Real Madrid during the current season in five matches, including two matches in the Spanish League and three matches in the Champions League, to gradually begin to register his presence with the first team.
