Mourinho begins Real Madrid training on July 13

A report by the Spanish newspaper Marca said on Wednesday that Portuguese Jose Mourinho will lead his first training session at the start of his second term as coach of the Royal Team on July 13. The report, reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca, said that Mourinho will not be officially presented as the new technical director until next month.

Real Madrid has not yet confirmed the return of Mourinho, who is coming from Benfica, but the Portuguese club announced yesterday, Tuesday, that its Spanish counterpart had agreed to pay the value of the release clause in the veteran coach’s contract, amounting to 15 million euros ($3.17 million), indicating that the controversial coach had already reached an agreement.

Mourinho’s return to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium was contingent on the re-election of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who wanted his return, which was confirmed the day before yesterday, Monday.
News reports reported that Mourinho signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid, where he coached the team between 2010 and 2013, and during that period he won the Spanish League title and the King’s Cup.
Mourinho is scheduled to start training next July 13, a date that falls in the last week of the World Cup, which likely means that all the team players led by Frenchman Kylian Mbappe and Portuguese Vinicius Junior will not be available.
Mourinho arrived in the Spanish capital, Madrid, yesterday, Tuesday, and informed the team of the start of training.
Mourinho takes over, succeeding Xabi Alonso, who led Real Madrid for a short period, as well as Alvaro Arbeloa, who served as interim technical director until the end of last season.
Real Madrid had finished the past season without any title for the second season in a row, as it finished second in the Spanish League standings behind its traditional rival, Barcelona, who won the championship. It was also eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Champions League by Bayern Munich of Germany.
