Saqr Ghobash receives the Chinese ambassador
Abu Dhabi, March 25 / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council, received His Excellency Jisin Zheng, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Afra Rashid Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communications, and His Excellency Tariq Ahmed Al-Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Council Presidency Affairs.
During the meeting, a number of bilateral issues of common interest were discussed, and the two sides reviewed the development of relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in all fields, in a way that reflects the vision and directions of the leadership of the two friendly countries and the strong, established and rooted relations that bind the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash congratulated and welcomed His Excellency the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United Arab Emirates, wishing him success in performing his duties, and expressing the Federal National Council’s aspiration to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and parliamentary relations between the two countries during his period of work in the country.
His Excellency referred to the current regional developments and the brutal and unjustified aggression the region is witnessing against the UAE, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, pointing out that these attacks constituted a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states, a grave violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.
His Excellency stressed that the United Arab Emirates, before and during the crisis, adopted a clear policy based on restraint and avoiding involvement in any military escalation, including not allowing the use of its lands or facilities to carry out military operations against any regional party, based on its firm commitment to supporting regional and international security and stability, preserving the continuity of the flow of energy supplies and ensuring the stability of the global economy.
His Excellency pointed out the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the Chinese People’s Assembly, highlighting the essential role of parliaments in enhancing cooperation, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries, in addition to emphasizing the importance of holding periodic bilateral meetings to exchange experiences and best parliamentary practices.
For his part, His Excellency Jisin Zheng, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, praised the role played by the Federal National Council through effective parliamentary diplomacy and its serious and distinguished participation in international parliamentary events, stressing the depth of the distinguished relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the keenness to develop them.
His Excellency also stressed the support of the People’s Republic of China for the security and stability of the UAE, and the necessity of containing the escalation and resorting to diplomatic solutions, in a way that contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.
