Launched Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture A national road map to adopt innovative technologies and determine priorities for research and innovation in the environment, water and agriculture sectors, with the participation of 100 relevant parties; It included identifying 350 innovative technologies, 30 technology families for dissemination, and linking more than 60 global technologies to about 45 challenges and opportunities in the three sectors.

The Ministry explained that the map includes three main programs that include; The Regulatory and Experimental Environment Program to support innovations that face regulatory barriers, and the Intellectual Property Program to support Current and future intellectual property rights and patents, and assistance in commercial marketing, in addition to the innovation dissemination program to support technologies in advanced stages.

The Ministry confirmed that the map includes a number of primary technologies in the environmental sector, including; Smart irrigation, waste treatment, ecosystem monitoring, and pasture management. In the water sector, smart leakage management technologies, advanced reverse osmosis, innovations in improving water consumption, and adaptive reuse technologies have been identified. Wastewater.

In the agricultural sector, techniques for using drones and satellites for agricultural crops, integrated management of aquaculture, irrigation and water management, and techniques for reducing food loss and waste were selected.

Ambitions and priorities

The Ministry indicated that the map aims to direct sectoral research, development and innovation priorities in line with national ambitions and priorities, and to empower components The system is implemented within the strategic plan for research and innovation. Which aims to support an effective research and innovation system that enhances the dissemination and adoption of technologies and solutions that are highly ready for use, and supports the marketing and localization of technologies to achieve food and water security and reach environmental sustainability, as part of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
