Ensuring the transit of Philippine energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz

The Philippines announced, on Thursday, that Iran has pledged to allow the safe and smooth passage of Philippine oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring their arrival to the archipelago, which relies heavily on imports.

The Philippine Foreign Ministry stated, in a statement, that the Iranian Foreign Minister assured his Philippine counterpart of his country’s commitment to securing the passage of ships flying the Philippine flag, including energy shipments, in addition to ensuring the safety of Filipino sailors.
