Baniyas maintains the lead in the second round of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Fujairah

Fujairah, April 4, 2017 (WAM) – Competitions for the second round of the third edition of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship for the Suit category continued today at the Zayed Sports Complex in the Emirate of Fujairah, with bouts for boys and girls under 14 and 16 years being held, amid an atmosphere of great enthusiasm in light of the increasing attendance of families and the high level of interaction with the course of the competitions.

The competitions were attended and participated in the crowning of the winners, His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, His Excellency Counselor Saeed Abdullah Amer Al Nuaimi, President of the Fujairah Federal Court, His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Mohammed Hussein Al Marzouqi, and Humaid Mohammed Bakhit Al Ketbi, members of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation, Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank branch in Fujairah, and Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing Department. And institutional communication in the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

In terms of results, Baniyas Club topped the overall standings for the second day after a remarkable performance, while Al Ain Club came in second place, and Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club came third, in a scene that reflects the breadth of the competition base and the diversity of technical schools among clubs and academies.

Mohammed Hussein Al Marzouqi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, stressed that the tournament represents one of the basic pillars in building a new generation of players who enjoys the integrated support of the wise leadership, which has laid the foundations for the development of sports in the country according to a long-term vision.

He said that what these categories are witnessing reflects real investment in the future, as the focus is not limited to results, but rather extends to consolidating basic values ​​such as commitment, discipline and the spirit of competition, noting that these stages form the basis on which the player’s personality is built on and off the mat, in line with the trends of the “Year of the Family” that enhances the role of the surrounding environment in supporting and guiding children.

He added that the presence of families at the heart of this experience adds an additional dimension to the competition and enhances the continuity of players, as family support becomes an influential element in developing performance and refining personality, which reflects positively on the player’s career in the long term.

For her part, Mona Al Mansouri, the mother of player Fatima Khaled Al Mansouri (14 years old) from Baniyas Club, confirmed that the presence of families goes beyond watching from the stands, to become part of the children’s journey in this sport, noting that the “Supportive Family Award” initiative gives this role its deserved appreciation and encourages families to be an active partner in their children’s journey.

In the under-14 category, player Sheikhan Saif from Al Wasl Jiu-Jitsu Club, who won the gold medal in the 34 kg weight, expressed his happiness with this achievement, stressing that the competitions were characterized by strength and closeness in level, which required a high degree of concentration and an accurate reading of the competitor’s style, pointing out that the support of his family played a major role in achieving the victory, and that the tournament gives the players an important opportunity to test their abilities and develop their level from one round to the next.

The podium in the second day’s competitions witnessed a remarkable presence of families who shared moments of achievement with their sons and daughters, in a scene that reflects the depth of their connection to their sporting career, and their pivotal role in supporting them throughout the season.

The second round competitions are expected to conclude tomorrow with the cubs’ fights, in continuation of a competitive scene that reflects the development of jiu-jitsu in the country and the expansion of its community base.
