المملكة: Deputy Minister of Education: A major breakthrough in the Saudi education system


The Deputy Minister confirmed EducationDr. Enas Al-Issa, during the opening of the second edition of the Saudi-Canadian Educational Partnership Forum in Toronto, said that academic cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Canada represents a fundamental and deep-rooted pillar in the process of joint educational work.

She explained that The Saudi education system is witnessing a major development boom that has made it more competitive and closely linked to the fields of innovation and sustainable economic development, in clear line with the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

She indicated that this meeting, which was organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the University of Toronto and in the presence of a wide range of leaders from the public and private sectors, aims to enhance knowledge integration and build effective communication bridges that serve the common interests of the two countries.

The forum’s activities were characterized by wide-ranging participation that included about 33 diverse Saudi entities, including ministries and national institutions, a system of universities, and governmental and private institutes, in addition to research centers, hospitals, and cultural attachés in Canada and the United States of America.

On the other hand, the Canadian side recorded a strong presence, represented by more than 45 prestigious universities and educational institutions, which reflects the mutual desire to expand the horizons of cooperation and develop the educational and research environment, as this huge gathering seeks to invest international expertise and localize best practices. Global educational institutions within Saudi national institutions to enhance the quality of academic and professional outcomes in various vital fields.

Shared dialogue visions

The forum’s agenda included holding two intensive dialogue sessions in which an elite group of academics and specialists from both sides participated to anticipate a more effective cooperative future. The first session focused on discussing institutional and national priorities within the Saudi education system in light of the major transformations imposed by Vision 2030 to ensure the compatibility of academic plans with the requirements of the global labor market.

While the second session was devoted to researching ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of technical and vocational training and developing specialized skills for students and trainees to keep pace with the rapid technological developments that the world is witnessing today in various industrial and technical sectors.

Fruitful investment partnerships

The events witnessed great momentum through the holding of specialized bilateral meetings aimed at building effective strategic partnerships and reviewing promising investment opportunities in the Saudi education sector. An important meeting was also organized on the sidelines of The Arab-Canadian Business Council Forum, in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada in the Kingdom and the Saudi-Canadian Business Council, to discuss the prospects for economic cooperation related to knowledge.

The Saudi delegation concluded its activities with field visits to a group of universities and specialized colleges in the Canadian province of Ontario to learn about pioneering experiences, which confirms the role of this forum, which was launched in its first edition in Riyadh in 2024, as a pivotal platform for enhancing educational, research and health cooperation between the two countries.
