World Health Day / The UAE affirms its commitment to promoting community health

Abu Dhabi, 7 April / WAM / The UAE affirms its firm commitment to promoting community health in conjunction with “World Health Day”, which falls on the 7th of April every year, and is celebrated this year under the slogan “Together for Health / Support Science”, according to the World Health Organization.

The state continues its efforts to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of health services through an integrated system based on readiness and flexibility, which enhances the health sector’s ability to respond to various challenges.

Experts confirmed to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the country continues to promote prevention and early intervention and employ innovation to build a sustainable health system that focuses on the patient and develops the quality of health care for individuals and society.

For his part, Dimitris Molavasilis, CEO of M42 Group, said that the UAE is moving steadily towards an integrated health model based on personal and proactive care, benefiting from the use of big data, artificial intelligence and genomics to enhance the accuracy of population health management, monitor diseases in their early stages, and provide more efficient and intelligent health services.

He explained that genomics reveals the basic biological blueprint for human health, which allows the adoption of more accurate preventive methods and the development of treatments designed according to the individual characteristics of each patient, while artificial intelligence enables the monitoring of health status in real time, detecting diseases early, and accelerating medical decision-making with greater efficiency.

Molavasilis added that expanding the scope of specialized care supported by artificial intelligence, building data-based health systems, in addition to developing interoperable health digital platforms, contribute to confronting the most prominent health challenges at the global level, and providing solutions that transcend geographical borders.

For her part, Salama Mohammed Al Hosani, Acting Executive Medical Director at SEHA Clinics, affirmed the clinics’ commitment to providing comprehensive and integrated patient-centered health care in accordance with the highest international standards, to keep pace with the UAE’s vision of making human health and quality of life among its national priorities.

She added that the clinics continue to focus on early screening programs, preventive and proactive care, and providing comprehensive specialized services with the aim of improving health outcomes and facilitating access to care for the community, by providing easier and more personalized health care through extending working hours, telemedicine services, and a distinguished medical team that includes more than 800 doctors in more than 20 specialties.

For his part, Professor Humaid bin Harmal Al Shamsi, President of the Emirates Oncology Society and CEO of Burjeel Oncology Institute, said that the country has achieved remarkable progress in treating oncology through the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, including “HAIP” technology, biological and immunotherapies, in addition to “MSI-high” and “CAR-NKT” immune cell therapy, while enhancing personalized medicine and improving the quality of life of patients.

For his part, Dr. Abdullah Hamid Kazim, Quality and Institutional Excellence Consultant at the Response Plus Holding Group, explained that the UAE is witnessing a development in preventive care through adopting healthy habits, early examinations, and continuous follow-up, with a focus on enhancing community health through health programs in the work environment and national initiatives, taking advantage of digital innovations and wearable devices to stimulate informed health decision-making.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Fatyan, Medical Director of Burjeel Holding Group, confirmed that the group has achieved advanced medical achievements that reflect the UAE’s drive towards innovation, including the development of the first oral treatment for anemia associated with thalassemia, and its contribution to space research to study the impact of chronic diseases such as diabetes in microgravity environments, which opens new horizons for future medicine and enhances the country’s position globally.

Tony Terzis, Eli Lilly’s Vice President of Medicine in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, also praised the UAE’s progress in national screening programs and community health initiatives, noting the role of scientific innovation in developing health care and consolidating the country’s position as a model for a sustainable health future.
