Special Olympics UAE concludes a national program to qualify bocce coaches and referees

Abu Dhabi, 7 April / WAM / The UAE Special Olympics concluded a national program to qualify bocce referees and coaches, as part of its plan to raise the professional and artistic level, and in preparation for the upcoming national, regional and international competitions.

The program, which concluded yesterday, witnessed the participation of 30 male and female students from clubs, centers and schools interested in Special Olympics sports in the country. It was held over two days at the Abu Dhabi Club for People of Determination, affiliated with the Zayed Higher Authority for People of Determination, under the supervision of certified regional lecturer Walid Al-Helou.

Bocce is one of the most prominent Special Olympics sports, as it contributes to developing concentration and social communication skills, and enhancing self-confidence among players with mental challenges. It is also classified as the third most widespread and participating sport in the world.

The program included both theoretical and practical aspects, as participants were trained on game skills, various refereeing positions, the law of the game, procedures for organizing competitions, and stadium specifications, in addition to how to manage events related to the sport of bocce.
