Starting tomorrow… the return of in-person education in Qatar

Today, the Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the resumption of studies and the provision of services in person in nurseries, kindergartens, public and private schools, and educational service centers, starting tomorrow, Sunday, based on the approved academic calendar.

The Ministry explained in a statement that the resumption of in-person studies in government schools will include the application of alternative evaluation procedures for the mid-term tests of the second semester that were announced recently, noting that the adoption of electronic applications does not conflict with the in-person learning pattern, but rather is a flexible evaluation tool to measure learning outcomes in various circumstances.

With regard to private schools, the Qatari Ministry indicated that it will implement internal evaluations in accordance with the approved educational plans, while committing to implement central tests in accordance with the decisions and instructions issued by the examination boards.

She stressed the readiness of the educational infrastructure in the State of Qatar, and the availability of the necessary systems and procedural frameworks to deal with various circumstances and variables, whether in the mode of in-person education or distance learning, including educational plans and teaching and evaluation mechanisms.

She also noted that the transition between education modes is subject to precise standards in coordination with the competent authorities in the country, in order to achieve a balance between the continuity of the educational process and ensuring the highest levels of security and safety in learning environments.
She concluded her statement by emphasizing that it is continuing to monitor the current situation, and will announce any developments through its official channels in a timely manner, in a way that achieves the public interest and ensures the safety of students and educational staff.
