المملكة: Release of 9 million beneficial organisms to protect the Kingdom’s farms

The National Center for the Prevention of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases launched «Prevent», more than 9 million beneficial organisms, during the period from 5 to 9 April 2026, aiming to protect crops and enhance the sustainability of agriculture, by reducing dependence on chemical pesticides.
The Center affiliated with the National System for the Prevention of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases revealed in its report, the actual release of about 9,297,000 beneficial organisms that were carefully distributed across 1,174 designated packages.
Official statistics showed the diversity of these organisms to include 8 different types of biological enemies, in conjunction with the publication of 100 cells of Bumblebees to support natural pollination operations.
Ensuring crop quality
The statistics indicated that field operations were based on supporting 6 strategic programs for integrated plant pest management (IPM), with the aim of combating 6 specific insect pests.
The report indicated the expansion of the field scope to cover 3 areas targeted by biological intervention, providing its services to 45 farms spanning a total area of 123.48 hectares.
The technical teams confirmed the recording of 45 field visits carried out by specialists to follow up on the progress of work, as their supervisory and guidance tours included about 254 agricultural fields to provide the necessary technical support.
Those in charge of the program pointed out that these applied measures come to ensure the quality of crops, and to consolidate the use of safe and “environmentally friendly” methods in protecting plant cover, which contributes to raising the efficiency of agricultural production, protecting the environment, and achieving Sustainable food security in accordance with the aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
