Baniyas is crowned champion of the Volleyball Super Cup with full marks

Dubai, April 12 / WAM / The Baniyas team was crowned champion of the Volleyball Super Cup for the 2025-2026 season, after topping the standings of the combined tournament that was held at Al Nasr Club Hall with the participation of 4 teams, and its competitions concluded today.

Baniyas, the defending champion, succeeded in retaining the cup for the second year in a row, after its victory in the third and final round over Al Ain with a score of 3-0, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18, to secure the lead with a full score with 9 points.

At the conclusion of the competitions, Al-Nasr defeated Al-Jazira with a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, and 25-20). Al-Nasr came second with 5 points, followed by Al-Jazira in third with 3 points, then Al Ain in fourth with one point.

After the end of the tournament, Osama Gargash, Vice President of the Emirates Volleyball Federation, in the presence of members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Salem Nayef Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baniyas Sports Company, and club representatives, crowned the top three teams, with Baniyas winning the cup and gold medals, Al Nasr the silver, and Al Jazeera the bronze.

Salem Nayef Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baniyas Sports Company, confirmed that the coronation was the result of the work of a clear strategy, praising the technical and administrative stability that contributed to achieving the full mark.

The achievement was dedicated to the team by His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Club President, and Baniyas fans.

He added that the team is looking forward to continuing its positive journey in the current season, as it competes for the Emirates Cup title, in addition to reaching the finals of the Federation Cup and the General League, despite the lack of success in winning them.

Al Kathiri pointed out that Baniyas Club continues to work to strengthen its presence in volleyball and other team and individual sports, with its players supporting the national teams.

Tunisian Riyad Al-Hudhaili, coach of Baniyas, confirmed that the title came after great effort throughout the season, pointing out that the team overcame its previous failures in the league and the Federation Cup, and succeeded in regaining its balance thanks to the fighting spirit and technical stability, pointing out that the harmony between the players over the course of two seasons was the decisive factor in achieving superiority.

Dr. Bassem Hassan Al Naqbi, Advisor to the President of the Emirates Volleyball Federation, confirmed that the tournament came in a distinctive way and reflected the development of the level of the game, pointing to the strength of competition, the convergence of levels, and the emergence of promising teams, which heralds a better future for Emirati volleyball, in light of the federation’s continued support for the clubs technically and administratively.

He added that the Federation is keen to raise the level of competitions and organize them in a way that keeps pace with the aspirations of the clubs, stressing that the next edition of the tournament will be more distinguished.

Mohammed Shamal, a Baniyas player, expressed his happiness at maintaining the title for the second year in a row, stressing that the management’s support and the team’s stability contributed to returning to the podium, with an ambition to continue success and compete for the Emirates Cup title during the coming period.
