The Tunisian Federation is considering dismissal of Lamouchi…and Khazri is the “temporary replacement”

The attention of the Tunisian Football Federation is turning to resolving the future of French coach Sabri Lamouchi, following the heavy loss to Sweden with a score of 1-5 in the opening of the “Carthage Eagles” campaign in the 2026 World Cup, which sparked a wave of widespread criticism within sports circles.
Tunisian Radio Mosaique FM reported that there is a tendency within the federation to terminate Lamouchi’s duties immediately, in light of the team’s disappointing performance in the opening match.
According to the same source, consultations are currently taking place regarding the next stage, including a proposal to assign former national team captain Wahbi Khazri to lead the team temporarily until the end of the tournament.
Figures within the Federation also called for an urgent meeting in the coming hours to discuss the repercussions of the defeat and make decisive decisions regarding the technical staff.
The Tunisian national team had begun its participation in the World Cup with a harsh loss to Sweden, which dominated the match and scored five goals against one goal for Tunisia, which sparked widespread public anger in Tunisia.
