The UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition witnesses competitions "The best livestock breeds "

Al Ain, April 23 / WAM / The activities of the UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition, which is organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in Al Ain and continues until April 26, witnessed the “Best Livestock Breeds” competitions, supervised by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority.
His Excellency Rashid Mohammed Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Authority’s Livestock Sector, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that this competition represents a fundamental pillar of the Authority’s strategy to transform the livestock sector towards a “sustainable productivity” pattern.
He stressed that holding competitions under the umbrella of the “Emirates Agricultural Conference and Exhibition” enhances their scientific and economic value, noting that they come as a continuation of the process of the “H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence” and aims to create a platform that brings together breeders and experts to develop and improve the quality of halal in the country.
He added: “Through this event, we are working to shift the breeder’s mind from focusing on beauty and beauty to paying attention to the best productive breeds. Our vision is based on the fact that raising smaller numbers (50 heads, for example) with high quality and productivity and a tangible benefit for food security gives the breeder a better return than raising large numbers without economic benefit.”
Al Mansouri explained that choosing the city of Al Ain to host these competitions within the exhibition activities did not come from nowhere, as it contains about 60% of livestock, making it the ideal place to reach breeders and develop their production capabilities directly.
Al Mansouri praised the results achieved in the first days of the competition, which witnessed the implementation of 30 competitions for 10 breeds, with a strong presence recorded for the “Najdi” breeds (120 heads) and “Al Hurri” breeds (110 heads), in addition to modern breeds such as “Saeedi” and “Al Rahbi”, while sales on the first day recorded amounts ranging between 110,000 and 115,000 dirhams.
He noted that the arbitration depends entirely on production aspects such as (density of meat, fat, and high fertility rates), with the requirement that the participant be the original “owner” of the halal to ensure support for the real product.
He stressed the endeavor, through the UAE agricultural conference and exhibition, to provide a sustainable financial return for breeders and to strengthen the national food security system, by adopting strong breeds capable of meeting the needs of the local market with high efficiency.
