Clinical trials in Saudi Arabia

As for clinical research, the number of clinical trials grew by (50%) between 2023 and 2025, and the number of companies sponsoring them grew by (36%) during the same period, in light of the availability of (13) qualified sites to conduct these trials within the Kingdom.

With regard to health personnel, the number exceeded Health practitioners registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (800) thousand practitioners, and the number of graduates of the Saudi Board since its inception has reached more than (35) thousand graduates in more than (170) specializations from (22) countries, in addition to (3) regulatory decisions to localize health professions.

At the international level, the Kingdom ranked first regionally in the number of health cities accredited by the World Health Organization with (16) cities, and achieved more than (19) medals and prizes at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2025 in the fields of health.

Artificial heart pump implantation

The report included prominent medical achievements, most notably performing the first completely robotic artificial heart pump implantation in the world at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh.
