Dubai Women Establishment launches an initiative "Promoting women’s mental health in community councils"

Dubai, April 28 / WAM / Within the framework of the directives of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of the Presidential Court, Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Women Establishment, to provide an integrated support system that enhances women’s ability to continue to achieve their qualitative achievements in various fields and consolidate their pioneering contributions to sustainable development, the Dubai Women Establishment, in cooperation with the Dubai Community Development Authority, launched the “Health Promotion” initiative “Psychological analysis of women in community councils.”
This initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of women’s mental health through a series of interactive sessions held over a period of five weeks, in six neighborhood councils in several residential areas in Dubai, including Al Mizhar, Al Warqa, Al Awir, Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, and Nad Al Sheba. The sessions are presented by three specialized trainers in the fields of self-development, talent development, human relations management, and quality of life, within themes that focus on enhancing awareness of the importance of mental health, managing stress, building psychological resilience, enhancing the ability to adapt to daily challenges, and achieving balance between different roles.
The initiative reflects Dubai Women’s Establishment’s continued commitment to supporting women, enhancing their quality of life, and enabling them to achieve balance and stability in various aspects of their family, community and professional lives. It also comes as an extension of the mental health program that it launched previously, as it was developed to take on a more immediate and influential societal dimension by transferring it to Dubai neighborhood councils, in an approach that reflects a deep understanding of women’s needs, and ensures direct access to them in their daily surroundings, while providing stimulating platforms for dialogue, interaction and exchange of experiences.
Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, confirmed that this initiative represents a practical model for developing more effective community initiatives that make a direct impact, in line with Dubai’s priorities in enhancing the quality of life and consolidating its position as a world-leading city in providing integrated and sustainable social services, and in a way that supports the goals of the “Dubai Social Agenda 33” in building a cohesive and prosperous society.
Her Excellency said: “At the Community Development Authority, we are keen to develop initiatives that stem from the reality of society, reflect its priorities, and are presented within its social fabric, in a way that enhances the efficiency of access to services and increases their effectiveness for the target groups. The implementation of this initiative in neighborhood councils comes within an integrated approach that aims to expand the scope of psychological support services and enhance partnership with the local community, which contributes to empowering families, consolidating social cohesion, and improving the standard of life.”
Her Excellency added: “These initiatives focus on enhancing prevention and building capabilities, by providing women with practical tools that enable them to deal with the challenges of daily life with confidence and efficiency, in a way that supports family stability and enhances the well-being of society, and contributes to consolidating Dubai’s position as a global model in adopting best practices in sustainable social development, through proactive and integrated services that put people at the heart of development.”
In turn, Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Dubai Women Establishment, said that the “Promoting Women’s Mental Health in Community Councils” initiative is in line with the goals included in the Foundation’s strategy related to the quality of life axis, stressing the Foundation’s keenness to empower women not only by enhancing professional and economic opportunities, but also by supporting their mental health through innovative and sustainable programs and projects, in line with the Dubai government’s vision to make Dubai one of the best cities in the world in terms of quality of life.
Her Excellency stressed that this initiative also comes within the framework of the Foundation’s pioneering role in supporting women, not only as individuals, but as an essential element in building a cohesive and prosperous society, capable of facing challenges with confidence and flexibility, and moving forward towards a more sustainable future and quality of life.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri added that choosing Dubai neighborhood councils to implement this initiative contributes to strengthening social ties and activating the role of the local community as a key partner in supporting women, explaining that the initiative targets female employees, mothers and students, with the Foundation keen to provide high-quality scientific and applied content during the various dialogue sessions.
Over the course of five weeks, the sessions address a group of vital topics, with Nadia Al Muhairi, an expert in positive psychology, presenting two sessions on thriving despite challenges and controlling emotions to achieve a more beautiful life, while trainer Abeer Al Matrooshi, a specialist in talent development, presents two sessions on managing stress consciously and calmly, and building psychological resilience to quickly recover from pressures. As for Aisha Al Naqbi, a specialist in human relations, she focuses on developing awareness of feelings and managing them, and achieving a balance between work and family.
