Honoring the winners of "Future Pioneers Award" In Sharjah

Sharjah, April 30 / WAM / Bee’ah, the region’s specialist in the fields of sustainability and innovation, hosted yesterday at its headquarters.

Under the patronage and attendance of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah, the “Future Pioneers Award” distribution ceremony 2025-2026 was attended to celebrate the distinguished innovations that were selected from among nearly 1,000 global entries.

This award is one of the most prominent initiatives in the United Arab Emirates with a global impact and aims to highlight change makers from all over the world in recognition of their enlightened ideas that have promising potential to shape a more sustainable future.

In its fourteenth session this year, the award witnessed record growth with a 400% increase in the number of entries compared to last year.

The winners presented solutions in the most prominent areas of sustainability, including energy efficiency, rationalization of consumption, waste reduction, circular economy practices, clean energy production, artificial intelligence, digital sustainability tools, and climate neutrality strategies.

The award attracted participants from ten countries, including the United Arab Emirates, France, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, India, Jordan, Morocco, Qatar, Egypt and Sudan.

The entries in the “Future Pioneers Award” shed light on the most prominent pioneering innovations in the field of sustainability presented by individual participants and groups from various schools, universities, government agencies and companies from around the world.

Based on Bee’ah’s impact over a decade in supporting innovation and providing the appropriate environment to enhance it, the “Future Pioneers Award” has become a leading global platform for highlighting innovative solutions and providing opportunities for knowledge exchange in an effort to find effective solutions to the pressing challenges faced by societies around the world.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi confirmed that the “Future Pioneers Award” reflects the growing commitment to enhancing cooperation and joint work in order to build a better future for all.

She said: “Innovators continue to transcend the borders of countries, cultures and languages to achieve a common goal, which is the necessity of changing our concept of our way of living and our way of working and preserving our planet and its rich resources. This goal is clearly reflected in every successful participation that turns into a source of inspiration for me and for everyone in our tireless pursuit of enhancing sustainability. I can only praise the pioneering ideas presented by the winners this year, which contributed to reaching new horizons of innovations with a noticeable impact, especially when common goals are combined with… A genuine interest in making a noticeable, positive difference in the lives of others.”

For his part, Khaled Al Huraimel, CEO and Vice Chairman of Bee’ah’s Board of Directors, said that the “Future Pioneers Award” sheds light every year on pioneering ideas that have promising potential to innovate effective solutions to the most prominent environmental challenges. The record number of entries in this year’s session, which numbered 1,000 entries from all over the world, comes as confirmation of the growing global interest in sustainability and innovation initiatives. During the ceremony, which was attended by a group of sector leaders, innovators, academics and students, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi honored the winners in recognition of their pioneering innovations, whose topics varied between “Sustainability Initiative”, “Prototype”, “Documentary Film”, and “Sustainable Solutions”.

This session witnessed the honoring of 12 participants, including companies, schools, universities, groups and individuals.

In the institutions category, “Dubai Municipality” won first place for the prototype “Ehsan”, which is smart stations supported by artificial intelligence to feed stray cats, aiming to address the challenges of animal welfare, sustainability and public health. “Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority” came in second place in recognition of its excellence in facility management and operations by achieving tangible energy savings, developing smart infrastructure and desalinating water with a system with low energy consumption, while “Fujairah Municipality” won third place for the “Concrete” initiative. “Green Geopolymer” is a low-carbon, cement-free building material made from industrial and quarry waste to enhance climate resilience in the country.

In the Schools and Universities category, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud School – Dubai won first place for a documentary film prepared by students about sustainability entitled “The Most Generous of the Series,” which showcases the interconnection between daily practices and nature, highlighting human negligence and excessive consumption.

The “Applied Technology High Schools” in Ras Al Khaimah won second place for the “Med Smart Companion” prototype, which is a smart, low-cost health assistant that helps the elderly in managing medications and monitoring vital signs.

The Academic Success Center at Abu Dhabi University came in third place for the “Academic Department of Sustainability and Environment” initiative, which aims to enhance environmental awareness on campus through interactive activities and games.

In the groups category, the ECOACT initiative won first place, which is an advanced data-based system for translating environmental monitoring into decisions related to infrastructure for saving energy and water.

The patented “Sahola” prototype won second place, which is a water-saving ablution unit designed according to the sustainability standards of modern facilities.

The AgriHab project won third place, which is an agricultural solution supported by artificial intelligence that provides a fully controlled growth environment independent of climate conditions to address the challenges of traditional agriculture.

In the Individuals category, Khaled Al-Nims, an innovator in industrial design, won first place for his innovation, the “Electronic Rain Gate,” which works to modernize rainwater drainage systems in cities through an automated, data-driven system.

Khalsa Hamad Al-Bahri, a doctoral student at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, won second place for her prototype (VR-LAB), which is a virtual and interactive physics laboratory to simulate electrical experiments in a digital learning environment.

Al Dhabi Al Muhairi, the youngest Emirati entrepreneur and publisher, came in third place in recognition of her influential efforts in championing sustainability among young people through education, publishing, technology, and community work.

The first three winners in each category were awarded financial prizes based on the selection of a jury that included an elite group of sector experts, with the aim of supporting their innovations, accelerating their development, and expanding their impact.

The committee included Professor Murad Bin Ayyad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the American University of Sharjah, Dima Hamdan, Senior Specialist in Digital Transformation Planning at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Digital Government, and Amal Ismail, Senior Specialist in the field of Digital Empowerment at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Digital Government.

On Bee’ah’s part, the judging panel included Dr. Hashem Stetieh, Director of Sustainability Department, Pablo Jimenez, Executive Director of Operational Excellence and Innovation, and Rahma Al Shamsi, Director of Investment Portfolios and Projects Management, along with Alia Al Hammadi and Iman Al Muhairi from the award’s organizing committee affiliated with Bee’ah’s Executive Office.

Hind Al-Huwaidi, CEO of Bee’ah Development, said: “It is truly inspiring to see for ourselves the distinguished innovations presented by the participants in this year’s session of the Future Pioneers Award that addressed a number of the most prominent environmental challenges by presenting effective and applicable solutions on the ground. The award’s jury, which includes an elite group of the sector’s most prominent pioneers, took the initiative to consider a record number of entries from all over the world through a rigorous evaluation process that confirms the growing importance that this award has come to enjoy.” And expand the scope of its impact.

Al-Huwaidi thanked the participants and the jury, expressing her hope that many of the innovations participating this year will become fully implemented on a large scale within our societies.

The ceremony included a keynote speech delivered by Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, during which he reviewed his pioneering journey inspired by years of his efforts in the field of protecting the marine environment, in addition to a speech presented by Amna Al Hammadi, an Emirati computer scientist and leader of the Abu Dhabi Center within the Young Leaders of Artificial Intelligence community of the “Artificial Intelligence for Good” initiative. She relied on her personal experience to highlight the role of the UAE in empowering young talents by providing growth and leadership opportunities.

The “Future Pioneers Award” receives entries from individuals, groups, companies, and public sector institutions from around the world, including schools, universities, and specialists in the sustainability sector, making this award an innovative platform for presenting pioneering ideas and concepts.

Bee’ah has been contributing for more than a decade to supporting social initiatives aimed at promoting environmental work by organizing various competitions, prizes and awareness initiatives. Through the Sustainability Academy, it is keen to cooperate with hundreds of schools across the UAE every year to enhance the participation of thousands of male and female teachers and succeed in reaching nearly 300,000 male and female students.

The “Future Pioneers Award” is one of the most prominent initiatives launched by Bee’ah to encourage the academic sector, companies and community members to actively participate in promoting climate action with a noticeable positive impact.
