Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), confirmed that investments in developing the game amounted to $5 billion over the past ten years, indicating that the program will continue to expand, and that the value of $2.7 billion represents the minimum target during the next cycle, with an aspiration to increase it in the future.

Infantino explained that football has a unique ability to build bridges between people in a world facing increasing challenges, stressing the necessity of promoting positivity and working to bring people together instead of dividing them.

Congress renewed its commitment to combating racism, reviewing the tangible progress in implementing the “Global Position Against Racism” initiative, which was approved in 2024, where practical steps were taken, including amending the discipline regulations, implementing the “No to Racism” sign in all FIFA tournaments, in addition to protecting more than 12,000 people and 570 teams through the social media protection service, and launching ongoing awareness programs.

Infantino confirmed that tangible progress has been achieved in this file, despite the continuing challenges, noting that joint efforts have contributed to transforming commitments into effective measures on the ground.

In the same context, former international star George Weah called for expanding the scope of community initiatives to confront discrimination, stressing that racism represents a challenge that requires concerted global efforts.
