"Sharjah Sports" Celebrates International Workers’ Day

Sharjah, 4th May / WAM / The Sharjah Sports Council celebrated International Workers’ Day, which falls on the 1st of May of each year, by organizing a distinguished sporting event in the Al Bataeh area, under the slogan “One Family, One Homeland”, emphasizing its appreciation for the vital role played by this group in serving society and supporting the development process.

The event witnessed the participation of 186 workers representing 17 of the emirate’s sports and specialized clubs, where they competed in a range of diverse sporting activities, including cricket, football, athletics and tug-of-war, in an atmosphere characterized by liveliness, interaction and team spirit.

The event contributed to enhancing the values ​​of community cohesion and establishing a culture of physical activity, which reflects the Council’s vision of supporting purposeful community initiatives. It concluded with the crowning of the winners and the distribution of awards and commemorative medals.

The event was attended by Bakhit Saeed Al-Qars, Director of the Council’s Sports and Community Events Department, and Ahmed Al-Salman, Head of the Community Initiatives and Events Department, who stressed the Council’s keenness to organize this event annually in appreciation of the efforts of the workers and their pivotal role in the process of construction and development, in a way that embodies the meanings of the slogan “One Family…One Homeland.”

For their part, the participants expressed their happiness with this initiative, praising the Council’s efforts in organizing activities that enhance the positive spirit and community belonging.
