The Professional Cup is a “small compensation” for Al-Wahda fans

Al-Wahda player, Facundo Daniel, confirmed that Al-Anabi’s crowning of the Professional League Cup title came as a result of a great effort made by the team throughout the season, stressing that the fighting spirit and determination were the decisive factor in achieving victory over Al-Ain, pointing out that the cup title is a simple compensation for Al-Wahda fans for the decline in the team’s results in the past period.

Facundo told Emirates Today: “My happiness is indescribable with this achievement, because we fought a lot throughout the season to reach this moment, and we knew that the final match needed special focus. Such confrontations are not played as much as they are decided with will and determination, and that is why we entered the match with the mentality of winning only, which is what was achieved in the end.”

He explained: “We were fully aware of the strength of the opponent, as it is a large team with distinguished elements, and everyone expected it to win, but we did not enter the match with fear, but only with respect, because football does not recognize prior expectations, but rather what is presented on the field, and we proved that through our performance and high spirit throughout the match.”

He added: “The conversation before the match was leaning in favor of the opponent, and this is normal in football, but we focused only on ourselves, and on what we could offer on the field, and we did not allow any external pressures to affect us, but rather we used that as additional motivation to prove our ability to win.”

He continued: “Playing with the heart was our motto in this match, and every player gave his best and spared no effort. That is why I believe the team deserved to win, because we were the most willing and determined to achieve the title, and this is what made the difference in the end.”

As for his opinion on Al-Wahda’s tally during the current season, he said: “The most important thing for us is winning the cup, and this is something of great value to us and our fans, because we wanted to give them this title after all the support they gave us throughout the season, and we feel proud that we succeeded in making them happy, even though the team deserves a better result than what it achieved.”

He said: “For the rest of the season, we know that we no longer have the chance to compete for the league title from a mathematical standpoint, but that does not mean that we will give up. Rather, we will play the remaining matches in the same spirit, and we will strive to achieve victory in all of them, so that we can end the season in the best possible way.”

He continued: “We have three matches remaining, and we will play them with full force, because we want to prove that we are a team that competes until the end, and that we gave everything we had this season, and this is what is most important for us as players, to feel that we did not fall short at any moment.”

He added: “Final matches are always decided by small details, and this is what happened in front of Al Ain, as there were decisive moments that we were able to deal with better than the competitor, which gave us the advantage in the end, and I believe that this reflects the character of the team.”

Facundo stressed that “Al-Wahda deserves this title, because we worked hard throughout the season, and we went through difficult moments, but we did not lose faith in our ability to achieve something special, and today we are reaping the result of this teamwork.”

Facundo spoke about his level this season, saying: “On a personal level, I went through a difficult period due to some special circumstances, and it was difficult for me to be here at times, but the support of my teammates played a major role in helping me get through this stage, and I am very grateful to them for that.”

He added: “Also, my family was always by my side, and this gave me the strength to continue and focus on my work on the field, and that is why I feel that this title has a special taste for me, because it came after great challenges.”

He praised the Al-Wahda team, saying: “We are one team on and off the field, and this spirit is what led us to victory, because we always play for each other, not just for ourselves, and this is what makes us stronger in such matches.”
