“Dubai Roads” updates the curricula for light vehicle driving license tests

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has updated the training curricula for applicants for a driving license for the light vehicle category, in line with technological improvements and developments in driving systems in modern vehicles equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Updates in the training curricula included forward collision warning, a blind spot monitoring system, lane deviation, lane support systems, a parking assistance system in designated parking lots, a night vision system, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), traditional and adaptive cruise control, and other technical systems that characterize modern vehicles.
The Director of the Drivers Licensing Department at the Licensing Institution at the Roads and Transport Authority, Sultan Al-Akraf, confirmed that the updates made to the training curricula for applicants for a driver’s license for the light vehicle category are in line with global standards approved by the International Driving Testing Organization (CIECA), and aim to enhance transportation safety, guide and motivate drivers’ behavior, and reduce accidents.
He added, “These procedures are within the framework of the Authority’s application of the best international practices regarding modern driving methods for the category of light vehicle drivers, and were implemented in cooperation with driving education facilities, and were also added to the education booklet, the theoretical and scientific curriculum for safe driving, and theoretical lectures.” He explained that the updates provide drivers with access to the latest developments in advanced driver assistance systems and global educational programs, and in accordance with the continuous training curriculum and keeping pace with the continuous development of vehicles equipped with modern systems. He continued: “The number of applicants and beneficiaries of the development of the curriculum has reached More than 250,000 trainees were trained during the last period, and workshops were prepared for driving education facilities in Dubai, in order to ensure coverage of all advanced driving systems based on the vehicles available for education, each according to its specifications.
