The secretariat continued The Holy Capital Implementation of Maintenance and rehabilitation of pedestrian bridges, traffic bridges, and road networks in Mecca and the Holy Sites, within its operational and preparedness plans For the Hajj season, with the aim of enhancing public safety, raising the efficiency of infrastructure, and improving the flow of movement on roads and vital axes.
The Secretariat supervises the maintenance and operation of road networks extending to more than 11.3 million linear meters in Mecca, in addition to 274 thousand linear meters in the Holy Sites.
In addition to monitoring the readiness of 143 bridges in Mecca and the Holy Sites, which enhances the efficiency of traffic movement and raises the level of safety during Season.

An integrated package of maintenance work

The works included implementing an integrated package of maintenance and technical treatments, which included clearing and asphalting more than 47,986 square meters, and implementing 2,400 square meters of traffic painting.
In addition to treating and painting concrete elements with an area exceeding 57,291 square meters, which contributes to raising the quality of the urban landscape and improving the efficiency of roads and bridges.
The secretariat implemented Installation and maintenance works of 1,040 linear meters of safety barriers, and maintenance of bridge expansion joints with a length of 257 linear meters.
In addition to installing 125 square meters of protection netting for the anchor bridges; In support of safety standards and raising the level of operational readiness.

In addition to traffic safety work, the efforts included maintaining, renewing and replacing 71 damaged traffic signs, installing 22 free-height signs for bridges, in addition to maintaining 52 traffic reflectors, to enhance the clarity of paths and improve the level of road safety.

Raising the readiness of the road network

The secretariat confirmed that these works come within its ongoing efforts to raise the readiness of the road and bridge network, and improve the quality of services provided to guests.
