Sharjah Municipality completes the rubber walkway for the Green Belt Park

Sharjah, May 25 / WAM / The Sharjah City Municipality revealed the completion of the Green Belt Park walkway, making it available to the public to practice walking and running starting today after completing all the necessary works, which included installing a rubber walkway, environmentally friendly lighting, and planting the surroundings of the walkway, providing the public with an ideal environment for exercising in a pleasant atmosphere.

This project comes within a package of infrastructure projects implemented by the municipality simultaneously, with the aim of raising the efficiency of infrastructure and the quality of services, in line with the urban, population and tourism renaissance witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah.

Engineer Hassan Abdel Razzaq, Director of Project Management and Facilities Maintenance, confirmed that the Green Belt Park walkway was implemented with a length of 1.8 kilometers around the park’s perimeter, according to approved international specifications that provide the highest levels of safety and comfort for its users. He pointed out that a set of technical standards were relied upon during implementation, which included matching the materials used to international specifications and standards, and providing sufficient flexibility to ensure ease of movement, and that the walkway is not affected by color change as a result of weather conditions or frequent use.

Engineer Hassan Abdel Razzaq explained that the municipality will provide seating and comfort for the public, in addition to environmentally friendly lighting poles that provide a clear view for those practicing sports during the night, and plant it with different types of plants that bring comfort and happiness and provide a distinct sports entertainment environment for walkway walkers, stressing that this embodies the municipality’s keenness to expand recreational and sports infrastructure projects, and provide integrated facilities that meet the needs of residents and visitors. The walkway also constitutes a qualitative addition to the public facilities in the city, and contributes to raising the level of services provided to the public.

He pointed out that the municipality is working, within its annual plans, to implement entertainment infrastructure projects that serve a wide segment of the public, with the aim of providing spaces that enhance comfort, happiness and positivity, support community cohesion, and encourage the practice of sports in a way that contributes to enhancing the health of the individual and society.
