Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa: 8 boats carrying the UAE’s ambitions in the Formula 1 World Cup
ABU DHABI, 28th May / WAM / Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Marine Sports Federation, confirmed that the participation of the Emirati teams in the first round of the Formula 1 World Boat Championship, in the Italian city of Cagliari from May 29 to 31, is an extension of the process of excellence and the active Emirati presence in this global sport, through 8 boats representing the Victorian, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah teams.
He pointed out that the entry of the Victorian team into the season’s competitions as the title holder reflects the amount of professional work behind its achievements, and gives it additional motivation to maintain the lead, stressing at the same time that the Emirati teams are always considered a difficult number on the map of global marine sports, thanks to the national cadres they possess and advanced technical expertise.
He added that the strong UAE presence with this number of boats embodies the country’s continued commitment to supporting and developing marine sports, and strengthens its position among the most prominent countries influencing this sport, not only at the level of competition, but also at the level of organizing and attracting major international tournaments.
He explained that the start of the first round of the tournament in Italy is an important milestone at the beginning of a season full of challenges, expressing his confidence in the ability of the Emirati teams to achieve distinguished results, and to continue raising the country’s flag in various international forums, in a way that embodies the aspirations of the wise leadership and translates the process of continuous achievements.
It is noteworthy that the competitions begin tomorrow with technical inspection and registration, then the best time race the day after tomorrow, leading to the end of the round next Sunday with the main race. The Abu Dhabi team approved the participation of 3 boats, the Sharjah team also 3 boats, while the Victorian team participates with two boats.
