"Municipalities and transportation" Launches a dual road project in Al Ain linking Al Sarooj to the industrial area
Al Ain, June 15, 2017 (WAM) – The Department of Municipalities and Transport announced the start of implementation work on the project to construct a dual road from Al Sarooj area to the industrial area, at a total cost of 291 million and 110 thousand dirhams, with the project being completed at the end of June 2027, as part of its strategic plans aimed at developing the infrastructure and enhancing the flow of traffic in the city, which contributes to improving the quality of life and providing a safer and more streamlined transportation environment for the residents of the region.
Engineer Abdullah Hamdan Al Ameri, Executive Director of Al Ain Infrastructure Sector, explained that the project comes within the framework of the department’s efforts to implement a new dual carriageway with a length of 3.2 kilometers in each direction, linking Al Masoud Interchange in the Industrial Area and the new signalized intersection at Al Saqr Roundabout on Al Sarooj-Industrial Road, which contributes to improving the flow of transportation, reducing travel time and raising the level of traffic safety in light of urban growth and increasing traffic density in the region, as well as supporting sustainable development plans and improving the quality of life for residents. City.
He added that the works include implementing major intersections and constructing a box culvert to drain rainwater, which enhances the efficiency of the infrastructure and its ability to accommodate the increasing traffic density in the region, in addition to constructing a 120-meter-long tunnel that crosses Jabal al-Naqfa in accordance with the highest technical and engineering standards.
He explained that the project will include the implementation of integrated infrastructure works that include rainwater drainage networks, modern lighting systems, directional signs, a 5.2 km bicycle path and 6 km pedestrian paths, in addition to providing 6 side bus stops and planting 500 trees as part of urban beautification works, which contributes to creating a prominent urban landmark that enhances the aesthetic identity of the region and improves the public landscape, in addition to supporting traffic safety and achieving greater flow of movement.
