Umm Al Quwain Police organizes a forum "Safe child"

Umm Al Quwain, June 17 / WAM / The Umm Al Quwain Police General Command, represented by the Community Protection and Prevention Tool, the Social Support Center and the Women’s Police Team, organized the “Safe Child” Forum, under the slogan “Towards a safe and supportive environment for child development”, with the aim of enhancing community awareness of the importance of protecting children, and establishing a safe environment supportive of their healthy development.

The forum, which was held at the Umm Al Quwain National Theater, discussed a number of topics related to child protection from legal and psychosocial aspects.

Major Saif Hamid Adran, Director of the Psychosocial Support Branch for Crime Victims in Umm Al Quwain, gave a presentation on the provisions of the Federal Child Protection Rights Law “Wadeema Law,” introducing the rights guaranteed to children, in addition to highlighting the responsibility of parents in providing care and protection for their children, and alerting to the legal accountability that may result from cases of neglect or negligence, stressing the importance of continuous family follow-up of children, and the role of the family in building the child’s personality and enhancing his sense of security.

Fatima Khalil bin Touq, a family counselor and child protection specialist, stressed the importance of family cohesion as the basic foundation for protecting children and raising them in a sound manner, noting that a stable family based on dialogue, understanding and inclusion contributes to building the child’s personality and enhancing his self-confidence and sense of security.

She stressed the importance of daily monitoring of children and identifying their needs and challenges, in addition to promoting positive communication within the family, which reduces behavioral and social problems and enhances family cohesion, stressing that the school represents an essential partner for the family in raising children and instilling positive values ​​and behaviors in them through cooperation and continuous communication between the two sides.

Regarding digital safety, Captain Ali Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Head of the Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior’s Center for Child Protection, reviewed the risks associated with electronic games, stressing that digital monitoring for children represents the first line of defense for their protection, by setting clear controls for the times of use of electronic devices and determining the types of games appropriate for their ages, in addition to taking advantage of the technical features available to control content and websites and manage the time allocated for use.

Dr. Mahra Al Malik, Assistant Doctor at Ajman University – a psychologist, stressed the importance of psychological awareness among families and the necessity of seeking the help of psychologists when needed, noting that early detection of psychological and behavioral problems and challenges that children may face contributes to treating them and reducing their negative effects before they worsen.

She stressed the importance of providing a supportive family environment based on dialogue, listening and understanding, as this has a pivotal role in enhancing children’s mental health and building balanced personalities capable of dealing with various life situations and challenges.

Media personality Mona Al-Awani spoke about the importance of positive role models, especially by influencers and content makers via digital platforms, stressing the necessity of enhancing dialogue with children and answering their questions in a way that establishes mutual trust between them and their families.
