"American of Sharjah" A partnership is being held to enhance national capabilities in artificial intelligence

Sharjah, June 24 / WAM / The American University of Sharjah, represented by Executive Education and Professional Development, signed a strategic partnership with the Global Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of strengthening national capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence and supporting institutions’ readiness for the requirements of the future, thus contributing to supporting economic growth in the government and private sectors.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Todd Laursen, Rector of the University, and Dr. Youssef Saadeh, CEO and Managing Director of the Centre, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in developing programs for executive education, professional certificates, and institutional capacity building initiatives, based on the global excellence model in artificial intelligence developed by the center, with the aim of supporting government agencies and institutions in employing artificial intelligence technologies according to organized and measurable methodologies.
The programs offered include specialized tracks in the fundamentals of excellence in artificial intelligence, the practitioner of excellence in artificial intelligence, the evaluator of excellence in artificial intelligence, and the chief evaluator of excellence in artificial intelligence, in addition to executive programs focusing on governance of artificial intelligence, the responsible use of smart technologies, institutional readiness, and transformation powered by artificial intelligence.
Dr. Todd Laursen said that artificial intelligence has become a strategic pillar for institutions seeking to enhance their competitiveness, sustainability, and readiness for the future, noting that this partnership contributes to supporting the goals of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 by preparing national competencies and professional leaders with the skills, knowledge, and practical capabilities necessary for an economy based on innovation and advanced technologies.
He added that, through these initiatives, the American University of Sharjah continues to support the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE to consolidate their position as a regional and global center for innovation and excellence in artificial intelligence and the development of future talent.
For his part, Dr. Youssef Saadeh stressed that competitiveness in the era of artificial intelligence is linked to the ability of institutions to build reliable work systems capable of keeping pace with digital transformations, pointing out the importance of developing leadership capabilities, enhancing the governance of artificial intelligence, and raising the readiness of human resources to achieve sustainable economic and societal value.
He explained that cooperation with the American University of Sharjah aims to develop national competencies and build the necessary regulatory and institutional foundations to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and transform its opportunities into tangible results that support development and innovation.
The agreement allows the two parties to explore additional cooperation opportunities in the areas of knowledge exchange, thought leadership, and interaction with business sectors, which enhances the application of global best practices and standards for artificial intelligence and supports institutional transformation in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
