Salem bin Sultan opens a facility "Fly Vaio" Aircraft maintenance at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport

Ras Al Khaimah, June 25 / WAM / Sheikh Engineer Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, inaugurated “Fly Vio”, the first dedicated cargo carrier in the UAE, based in Ras Al Khaimah, and its new facility for approved aircraft maintenance “AMO CAR 145” at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
The opening was attended by Engineer Ismail Hassan Al Balushi, Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority and Acting Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al Khaimah, His Excellency Dr. Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Manish Seth, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Airport, Mr. Vijay Arumbakam, CEO and responsible director of “Fly Vaio,” and Ms. Meena Arumbakam, Director of “Fly Vaio,” along with the company’s employees and a number of dignitaries and officials.
Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi expressed his happiness with this distinguished achievement, saying that the successful opening of the “AMO CAR 145” maintenance facility is a clear testimony to the growing capabilities of the aviation system in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to meet the maintenance requirements of both local and international operators from Ras Al Khaimah Airport. This achievement also reflects the strength of our infrastructure, the high professionalism of Flyvao, the Department of Civil Aviation and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, as well as the emirate’s commitment to supporting operations. Which serves global markets efficiently and carefully.
Manish Seth, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, said: “Ras Al Khaimah Airport is poised to achieve tremendous growth in both passenger and cargo operations, and the successful opening of the “CAR 145” facility means that all operators who use Ras Al Khaimah Airport will have access to world-class line maintenance facilities, which contributes significantly to enhancing the safety and efficiency of operational operations.
Engineer Ismail Hassan Al Balushi, Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority and Acting Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al Khaimah, noted that these new capabilities allow Fly Vaio to provide maintenance services to its own fleet and to third-party operators, which supports increased airline activity, creates new job opportunities, develops technical expertise, and stimulates economic growth within the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
For his part, Mr. Vijay Arumbakam, CEO and responsible director of Flyvao, said: This achievement gives us full confidence to expand maintenance and repair activities at Ras Al Khaimah Airport, and develop a world-class aviation maintenance system in the emirate.
He added that the company is currently the only organization approved for aircraft maintenance under a “CAR-145” license at the airport and authorized to conduct scheduled periodic maintenance checks of up to 1,000 flight hours, 1,000 flight cycles, or 6 months, whichever comes first.
As part of its future expansion plans, Flyvao aims to establish additional aviation maintenance facilities, including workshops for wheels, brakes, and batteries, in addition to a complete basic maintenance facility for Airbus A320 aircraft. These developments will contribute to enhancing local aviation capabilities, creating job opportunities for Emirati citizens and aviation professionals, and consolidating Ras Al Khaimah’s position as a growing regional center for aircraft maintenance.
Flyvao has succeeded in establishing Ras Al Khaimah as a regional freight hub, providing additional freight capacity to freight forwarders, importers, exporters, e-commerce players, charter flight operators, and final delivery service providers on airlines heading to Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
