Ahmed bin Saeed witnesses the opening of a facility "Kernow Enterprises " in "Dubai Silicon Oasis"

DUBAI, June 25, 2017 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIZ), witnessed the opening of the official headquarters and first manufacturing facility of Kerno Enterprises in Dubai Silicon Oasis, the economic zone specializing in the field of knowledge and innovation and falling under the umbrella of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIZ).

The opening was attended by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, CEO of Dies, and Christopher Caswell, co-founder and CEO of Kerno Enterprises, along with a number of officials from the government and private sectors and company representatives.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum inspected the new facility, and was briefed on the advanced production lines, assembly, inspection and quality assurance stages, in addition to reviewing a group of solutions developed by the company in the fields of artificial intelligence servers, high-performance computing, institutional servers and storage systems.

His Highness listened to an explanation about the Kerno Enterprises factory, which is the first of its kind for corporate information technology devices in the UAE, and the company’s contribution to strengthening Dubai’s position as a center for advanced technology and knowledge manufacturing, as it works to design, develop and manufacture safe technical solutions within the country, in a way that supports national trends aimed at enhancing technological sovereignty, localizing advanced industries, and developing a digital infrastructure capable of keeping pace with the requirements of artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stressed that Dubai, thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, continues to consolidate its position as a global destination for technology companies and advanced industries, through an integrated business environment, world-class infrastructure, and an economic system capable of attracting qualitative projects that create added value to the economy.

His Highness said: “The opening of the headquarters and facility of Kerno Enterprises in Dubai Silicon Oasis represents a qualitative addition to the advanced manufacturing system in Dubai and the UAE, and this step reflects the importance of investing in sectors based on knowledge, innovation and technology. Advanced technological manufacturing constitutes an important pillar in building the economy of the future, enhancing digital readiness, and supporting the process of economic diversification, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 in consolidating its position among the best economic cities in the world.”

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said: “The opening of the Kerno Enterprises facility in Dubai Silicon Oasis represents an important step in the UAE’s path towards building a more diversified and competitive economy, based on knowledge, innovation and advanced technology. It also reflects the country’s ability to attract qualitative investments in sectors of the economy of the future, and transform them into industrial and technical projects that contribute to enhancing the added value of the national economy.”

His Excellency added: “This facility is consistent with the UAE’s trends in developing an advanced trade and investment system, and enhancing its position as a global center for advanced industries and digital technologies. Enabling companies to design, develop and manufacture high-performance solutions within the country supports the competitiveness of national exports and opens broader horizons for international partnerships.”

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni said: “The opening of Kerno Enterprises’ headquarters and manufacturing facility in Dubai Silicon Oasis reflects the growing role of the oasis as a specialized platform for companies based on technology, knowledge and innovation. It also confirms the ability of the DIES system to attract qualitative investments that support future sectors, and provides companies with an integrated environment for growth, expansion and development of advanced solutions from Dubai to regional and global markets.”

Al Zarouni added: “The presence of Kerno Enterprises in Dubai Silicon Oasis represents an important addition to the technology business community in Dubai, especially since the company works in a field directly related to the manufacturing of enterprise IT devices and secure digital infrastructure. We hope that this facility will contribute to enhancing local technological manufacturing capabilities, and supporting Dubai’s readiness for the future of the digital economy and artificial intelligence.”

The Kerno Enterprises facility in Dubai Silicon Oasis has a production capacity exceeding 60,000 technology products annually, including high-performance artificial intelligence servers, all-in-one servers, edge computing servers, and multi-use x86 platforms developed entirely in-house, in addition to mission-critical enterprise storage systems.

For his part, Christopher Caswell, co-founder and CEO of Kerno Enterprises, said: “The opening of our headquarters and manufacturing facility in Dubai Silicon Oasis represents a pivotal milestone in Kerno’s journey, and confirms our commitment to developing and manufacturing advanced technological devices within the UAE, in line with the country’s trends in supporting advanced manufacturing and the digital economy, through which we look forward to meeting the growing demand for high-performance sovereign computing and artificial intelligence solutions designed and manufactured in the country.”
