Strategic partnership between "IVSM" and"edge" To promote the spread of Jiu-Jitsu globally
ABU DHABI, June 27, 2017 (WAM) – Today, the International Vision Sports Management Group (IVSM) signed a memorandum of understanding with the EDGE Group, one of the leading global groups in the field of advanced technology and defense, to enhance efforts in spreading the sport of Jiu-Jitsu at the global level, by sponsoring tournaments organized and sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP), one of the companies affiliated with IVSM.
This came during a press conference held at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the UAE and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of World Vision Sports Management Company, and His Excellency Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of the EDGE Group.
The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides, within the framework of a strategic partnership that includes the EDGE Group’s sponsorship of the World Vision Sports Management series of championships in Latin America, in addition to sponsorship of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championships, which are considered one of the largest and most prominent global tournaments organized by the World Vision for Sports Management, and attract elite players from various countries of the world.
The partnership comes as an extension of the efforts of both parties to support Emirati sports and enhance its presence on the international scene, by investing in major sporting events, and consolidating the position of jiu-jitsu as one of the leading sports in the world, which reflects the vision of the UAE in building qualitative partnerships between the sports and industrial sectors.
His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi stressed that the partnership with the EDGE Group represents a qualitative addition to the World Vision Sports Management process, and reflects the growing confidence enjoyed by the World Vision Sports Management Championships from major national institutions.
He said: We are proud to have the Edge Group join our list of strategic partners. This partnership goes beyond the concept of traditional sponsorship to embody a consensus in visions and ambitions towards supporting excellence and consolidating the UAE’s position as a global center for sports and innovation. The World Vision Sports Management Championships have succeeded over the past years in reaching dozens of countries and attracting hundreds of thousands of athletes, and today we continue this path with the support of partners who believe in the importance of sports as a means of building societies and enhancing the country’s international presence.
He added: Sponsoring our tournaments in Latin America and the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam series will contribute to improving the experience of athletes and fans, and support our plans to expand into new markets, ensuring the continued growth of jiu-jitsu globally, and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as the largest developer of jiu-jitsu in the world. We are confident that this partnership will open broad horizons for cooperation and achieve added value for both parties.
His Excellency Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, stressed that caring for society is a national responsibility, and that the sport of jiu-jitsu carries many positive values and contributes to building human beings and enhancing family cohesion, noting that its practice by more than 300,000 male and female players in the UAE reflects its great status and importance to Emirati society.
He said: At Edge Group, we believe in the importance of supporting national initiatives that leave a positive impact on society, and therefore we will continue to provide financial and moral support in all its forms to contribute to developing the sport of jiu-jitsu and enhancing its spread globally. We have already begun supporting the International Vision for Sports Management (IVSM) championships in Brazil and Latin America, and we will continue this approach during the next stage.
He added: Abu Dhabi is the global capital of Jiu-Jitsu, and from this standpoint we will fully support the vision of the International Sports Management (IVSM), which organizes approximately 280 Jiu-Jitsu tournaments around the world annually, which contributes to consolidating the UAE’s leadership in this sport at the international level.
