Launching the upgraded version of "Dubai data directory"

DUBAI, June 30, 2017 (WAM) – The Dubai Data and Statistics Corporation, a subsidiary of Digital Dubai, announced the launch of the upgraded version of the Dubai Data Guide, in a step that strengthens data governance and consolidates its position as a strategic asset to support decision-making, accelerate digital transformation, and enable artificial intelligence applications in various government agencies, in accordance with the Dubai Data Law and enhances the Dubai government’s readiness for the future.

The guide provides an integrated framework for data management, governance, exchange and utilization in accordance with international best practices, which raises the quality of data, maximizes its value, enhances the efficiency of government services, and contributes to building a more integrated and sustainable digital system that supports the digital economy and improves the quality of life in Dubai.

Younis Al Nasser, CEO of the Dubai Data and Statistics Corporation, said that the developed version of the Dubai Data Guide represents an important strategic milestone in enhancing the readiness of government agencies for the future of artificial intelligence, stressing that Dubai has moved from the stage of digitizing services to building smart and integrated urban experiences that rely on accurate, consistent and structured data that forms the basis for innovation and decision-making.

He added that data has become a major driver of economic growth and innovation today, and that the quality and readiness of data will determine the strength of the emirate’s digital future, noting that the guide provides an integrated system of standards, frameworks and tools that help government agencies make more accurate decisions, provide more efficient services, and improve customer experience based on reliable data.

The guide includes a comprehensive framework for managing government agencies’ data that includes standards for data quality, governance, roles, responsibilities, and compliance requirements, and combines mandatory requirements and applied guidelines to enable government agencies to deal with data as a strategic asset within a unified, sustainable, and expandable framework at the level of the Dubai government.

The new version reflects Dubai’s trend towards building a digital city supported by artificial intelligence, by enabling government agencies to develop accurate, real-time, consistent and structured data environments, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Digital Strategy, which focuses on providing integrated digital experiences, adopting product-based operating models, building more flexible data systems, and enhancing compliance with the Dubai Data Law.

The guide witnessed qualitative updates that included adopting a unified structure for organizational units, developing an integrated data management framework, simplifying compliance requirements through mandatory standards and self-evaluation checklists, in addition to greater alignment with global best practices and expanding the scope of data readiness to support advanced analytics and artificial intelligence applications.

The guide contributes to enhancing the ability of government agencies to raise the quality of data and exchange it, activate advanced uses of artificial intelligence, and establish a culture of data-based decision-making, which supports the growth of the data economy, raises the efficiency of government services, and enhances the realization of Dubai’s vision as an integrated digital city led by data and innovation.
