He pointed out that the week witnessed the holding of the second preparatory meeting of stakeholders in preparation for the World Water Forum, which Riyadh will host in March 2027, indicating that the first and second days Specifically for meetings of technical teams and representatives of countries, international organizations, the private sector and local communities, with the aim of discussing the Forum’s paths, formulating its agenda, determining its priorities, and reviewing the most prominent global challenges facing the water sector.
World Water Forum
Al-Shaibani added that the meetings were characterized by a broad participatory nature, as they included discussions and consultations between the various parties concerned to reach a common vision that contributes to the success of the World Water Forum.
He indicated that The third and fourth days of Saudi Water Week were largely devoted to the work of the Arab Water Forum, which is organized by the Arab Water Council in cooperation with the Arab Ministerial Water Council, pointing out that the program included a number of dialogue sessions, including a ministerial session that discussed the most prominent issues and challenges related to the water sector at the regional and international levels.
He explained that the World Water Forum also witnessed a ministerial session within the political track, in which a number of ministers, ambassadors and representatives of countries participated, They presented their views on the most prominent files that should be addressed by the World Water Forum in its next edition, in a way that enhances international cooperation to find sustainable solutions to water challenges.
Saudi Water Week
Al-Shaibani stressed that the rest of the Saudi Water Week sessions focused on reviewing the transformation journey witnessed by the water sector in the Kingdom, and the achievements that have been achieved along the value chain, starting with water production, transportation, storage, and distribution, all the way to optimal use, water treatment, and raising efficiency. consumption, with the participation of the leaders of the entities working in the system, including the Center for Water Efficiency and Rationalization.
He revealed that the investments pumped into the water sector since the launch of the National Water Strategy amounted to about 200 billion riyals in capital and operational projects, while private sector investments exceeded 50 billion riyals, which reflects the scale of the transformation that the sector is witnessing and its role in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and enhancing the sustainability of water resources.
