Saeed Al Hajri heads the UAE delegation to the fourth meeting of the Association Committee "ASEAN"

ABU DHABI, 1st July / WAM / The fourth meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee was held in Abu Dhabi, chaired by His Excellency Saeed Al Hajri, Minister of State, and His Excellency Kamal R. Vaswani, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE, with Singapore as Chair of the Committee for the period from January to June 2026.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Al Qamzi, UAE Ambassador to ASEAN, and Their Excellencies Ambassadors of ASEAN member states to the UAE, as part of joint efforts aimed at strengthening the growing partnership between the UAE and ASEAN, after the country joined as a sectoral dialogue partner for the Association in 2022, and implemented the joint action plan between the two sides for the years 2024-2028.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Saeed Al Hajri welcomed Their Excellencies the ambassadors, expressing the UAE’s appreciation for the efforts of the Republic of Singapore during its presidency of the committee. He also welcomed the Socialist Republic of Vietnam assuming the presidency of the committee starting in July 2026.

His Excellency stressed the UAE’s commitment to continuing to enhance cooperation with ASEAN in various fields of common interest, noting that the ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi represents an important platform for dialogue, coordination, and exploring opportunities for practical cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting witnessed constructive discussions on ways to implement the joint action plan and enhance cooperation in a number of priority sectors.

The two sides stressed their keenness to continue coordination and consultation on a regular basis, and to explore new opportunities to advance the partnership, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable economic development and common prosperity.

The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, and stressed the importance of containing tensions in the region, and the need to continue diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability.
