"Abu Dhabi Modern Sail" participates in "European Cup" In Greece
ABU DHABI, 3rd July, 2017 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Modern Sailing Team, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy, is participating in the Greek Round of the European Sailing Cup Championship, which is being hosted by the Greek city of Thessaloniki during the period from 6 to 8 July, among 225 boats from 30 countries.
The championship is considered one of the most prominent continental competitions in the sport of sailing, as it is held throughout the year in a number of European maritime destinations, and attracts elite sailors in the Elka 4, Elka 6, and Elka 7 categories, providing a high technical and competitive level that contributes to developing the participants’ skills and enhancing their international experience.
The Abu Dhabi team will leave today for Greece to hold a training camp that extends until the start of the tournament on July 6, as part of the preparation program for participation in the competitions.
The team is represented in the tournament by three sailors, namely Simeon Hristov and Abdullah Al-Zubaidi in the Elka 4 class, and Muhammad Al-Hammadi in the Elka 6 class, as part of the external participation program implemented by the academy to prepare and refine national talents and enhance their presence in the most prominent international tournaments.
The team is accompanied by the technical staff led by Ahmed Al Marzouqi, along with coach Patrick Lutonski, who supervise the sailors’ preparation and preparation for the competitions.
This participation comes within the preparation and development program implemented by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy, which aims to raise the players’ readiness through continuous contact with the most prominent European schools, which contributes to preparing a generation capable of representing the UAE and competing to achieve achievements in continental and international forums.
