The UAE Individual Open Chess Championship begins tomorrow in Dubai

Dubai, 3 July / WAM / The Chess Federation announced the organization of the UAE Individual Open Championship for men and women, in the under-8 and 10-year-old categories, during the period from 4 to 9 July, at the Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Hall in the Dubai Chess and Culture Club.

In its statement today, the Federation confirmed the completion of all administrative and technical arrangements for the launch of the first tournament for the new Board of Directors, headed by His Excellency Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Yousef Al-Khoury for the 2025-2028 session, after its recent approval by the Extraordinary General Assembly.

He pointed out that the local competitions scheduled during the next stage will be part of the preparation program for the Arab Individual Championship 2026, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, from July 28 to August 5.

The Federation explained that the UAE Championship scheduled for tomorrow will be held from 7 to 9 rounds, according to the number of participants, and international referee Salman Al-Taher will chair the referees’ committee, noting that prizes have been allocated to the winners in various categories, and 204 male and female players representing the clubs of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Ras Al Khaimah Girls Chess, and Advance Academy.

On the other hand, the organizational meeting yesterday with representatives of the participating clubs, in the presence of Ahmed Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Competitions Committee, reviewed the technical regulations, the eligibility of the participating players, and the competition schedule.
