Dubai, 5 July / WAM / Dubai Customs confirmed that the operational indicators and proactive measures it implemented during the last period contributed to enhancing Dubai’s ability to transform challenges into opportunities, through an integrated operational system that enhanced the flow of trade and ensured the continuity of the flow of vital goods to local and regional markets, despite the challenges imposed by recent geopolitical changes on the global trade movement and supply chains.

She explained that Dubai Customs, in strategic partnership with Emirates Air Cargo, the logistics arm of Emirates Airlines, led an integrated operational system that ensured the continuity of the flow of goods through the cargo village at Dubai International Airport and the air cargo center at Al Maktoum International Airport, which contributed to accelerating customs clearance procedures, raising operational capacity, and enhancing food and drug security at the local and Gulf levels, while maintaining the smooth flow of trade movement and the efficiency of supply chains.

Dubai Customs confirmed that the operational indicators reflected the efficiency of the logistics system in the emirate and its success in responding quickly to global changes, as the total imported goods that were cleared through customs through the cargo village at Dubai International Airport and the air cargo center at Al Maktoum International Airport recorded an increase from 26,559,019 kilograms in January 2026 to 48,259,442 kilograms in May 2026, a growth rate exceeding 82%, in an indicator that reflects the flexibility of operational operations.

The daily maximum amount of goods handled rose from 1,236,537 kilograms in January to 2,106,645 kilograms in May, which reflects a high operational capacity and exceptional flexibility in accommodating the increasing demand without affecting the speed of delivery or the quality of services.

Dubai Customs confirmed that the impact of these efforts went beyond the local market to include enhancing the continuity of supply chains in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as Dubai has established itself as a regional logistics hub to ensure the arrival of vital shipments to their final destinations, despite the operational changes witnessed by the region. Support operations during the month of May, in cooperation with Emirates Sky Cargo, included the implementation of 529 logistical trips via trucks, during which 2,636 tons of basic goods were transported, including meat and cosmetics. Pharmaceuticals and general goods, which contributed to the establishment of an effective logistical supply corridor that maintained the smooth flow of vital goods to Gulf markets, and reflected Dubai’s readiness, the efficiency of its logistics system, and its ability to play a pivotal role in supporting regional trade and enhancing the flexibility of supply chains during crises.

Dubai Customs relied on an advanced system of smart initiatives and services that it developed to support the flow of trade and enhance the flexibility of supply chains, most notably the “Green Corridor” and the “Shahne” initiative, which created a fast and safe path for priority shipments, including food, medicines and basic commodities.

With the high demand for import and customs clearance operations during the period that witnessed accelerating regional repercussions, Dubai Customs teams and the inspection sector worked around the clock to ensure business continuity and that trade movement was not affected.

The cargo village at Dubai International Airport and the air cargo center at Al Maktoum International Airport witnessed a series of operational measures aimed at increasing capacity and accelerating handling. Customs inspection capabilities were enhanced by increasing field inspection activities and taking advantage of the spaces available in front of the customs office at the main cargo station, which led to a significant expansion of the cargo handling area.

New inspection windows were also added and field work procedures were improved, which was directly reflected in reducing congestion, accelerating processing time, and ensuring the continuous flow of shipments during peak periods.
