Middle East Watches and Jewelry records a 41% growth in purchasing power

Sharjah, 6 July / WAM / Expo Center Sharjah celebrated the achievements of the 57th edition of the Middle East Watch and Jewelery Exhibition, consolidating its position as one of the most important global events specialized in the jewelry sector, a major supporter of trade and investment movement, and a platform that brings together creativity, innovation, and business under one roof, thus enhancing Sharjah’s position on the map of the international exhibition industry and keeping pace with its vision of achieving sustainable economic development.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Expo Center Sharjah, Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice President of the Chamber, Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Center Sharjah, a number of members of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber and Expo Center Sharjah, directors of departments and divisions, and employees of the center.

The 57th edition of the Middle East Watch and Jewelery Exhibition attracted more than 96,000 visitors from 78 countries, achieving a growth of 6% compared to the previous session, while attracting more than 700 major buyers and jewelry trade specialists from 15 countries, enhancing its position as one of the most important business platforms specialized in the jewelry sector in the region.

The success was not limited to the volume of international participation, but rather extended to the commercial results, as the exhibition recorded a 41% growth in purchasing power compared to the previous session, an indicator that reflects continued confidence in the UAE markets and confirms the position that Sharjah has come to occupy as a major destination for luxury retail trade and attracting investments and international brands.

The current session witnessed a group of exceptional stations that reflected the spirit of innovation and creativity in the jewelry industry, most notably the display of the most expensive golden dress in the world, which was officially registered in the Guinness Book of World Records and whose value exceeded five million dirhams.

The exhibition also witnessed the launch of “Spirit of the Emirates”, the first Emirati gemstone extracted locally from natural red jasper in the Al-Siji area in the Emirate of Fujairah, in cooperation with the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation, in a step that reflects the development of national creative industries and enhances the presence of the Emirati identity in the global jewelry sector.

The success extended to include the experience of visitors and exhibitors, as the results of independent studies showed that 81% of visitors gave the exhibition a five-star rating, while the exhibitor satisfaction index reached 4.11, with 80% of them confirming their satisfaction with the quality of organization, the level of visitors, and the commercial opportunities provided by the exhibition.

His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Midfa said that what this session has achieved reflects the growing status that the Middle East Watch and Jewelery Exhibition has enjoyed on the international scene and confirms the growing confidence that the global jewelry industry community has in the Emirate of Sharjah as a platform that brings together the most prominent brands, manufacturers, designers and buyers from various parts of the world and provides an ideal environment for establishing partnerships, promoting innovation, and opening new horizons for growth and business.

He added: These successes are the result of the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the continuous support and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council, who established an integrated development model that made Sharjah a global center for specialized exhibitions and a reliable destination for business and investment, supported by advanced infrastructure, a competitive business environment, and an integrated system that attracts major international events.

He said: Over the course of more than four decades, the Middle East Watch and Jewelery Exhibition has become no longer just a platform for displaying the latest innovations in the world of gold and jewelry. Rather, it has become a strategic platform that brings together global markets, supports the growth of the sector, and contributes to strengthening Sharjah’s position as one of the most prominent global destinations for hosting specialized exhibitions, which drives us to continue developing this event and elevating it to new heights in the coming sessions.
