The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority announces the start of receiving applications for registration in the 12th season of the programme "Prince of poets"

ABU DHABI, 7 JULY / WAM / The twelfth season of the “Prince of Poets” program, one of the most prominent cultural programs specialized in classical Arabic poetry, will hold its activities in Abu Dhabi, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.

The Authority announced the start of receiving applications for registration starting today until August 6, calling on male and female poets in the Arab world to seize the opportunity to participate in the program, which has become a leading platform for discovering new poetic talents and presenting them to the Arab public, in addition to its role in supporting the classical poetry movement and enhancing its presence in the contemporary cultural scene.

To participate in the program, the applicant must be at least 18 years old and no more than 45 years old, and must submit a printed vertical poem with no more than 20 lines and no less than 8 verses, or an active poem whose number of stanzas does not exceed two stanzas, with the number of lines for each stanza not exceeding 15 lines and not less than 10 lines.

Those wishing to participate in the program must complete the electronic registration form via the website: princeofpoets.ae, and send their brief CV including their literary activities, in addition to a copy of their passport valid for no less than one year.

The jury is responsible for sorting nomination applications and evaluating poetic texts according to precise artistic and critical standards, in preparation for conducting interviews and selecting the poets who qualify for the live sessions held at the Al Raha Beach Theater in Abu Dhabi, where an elite group of poets compete for the title of “Prince of Poets.”

The first-place winner receives the title of “Prince of Poets,” the hairpiece that represents the historical heritage of the Arabs, and the emirate’s seal, in addition to a cash prize worth one million dirhams. The second-place holder receives 500,000 dirhams, the third place receives 300,000 dirhams, the fourth place receives 200,000 dirhams, the fifth place receives 100,000 dirhams, and the sixth place winner receives 50,000 dirhams.

The “Prince of Poets” program continues to fulfill its cultural mission as one of the most prominent Arab projects concerned with preserving and preserving eloquent poetry.

Since its launch, the program has succeeded in attracting thousands of poets from various Arab countries, and has contributed to bringing Arabic poetry back to the forefront of the cultural and media scene, providing a model that combines literary value and popular dissemination, while the program has formed a bridge of communication between poetic generations, and a spacious space for discovering new creative voices and refining their talents.

The program emphasizes Abu Dhabi’s role in promoting Arab cultural interaction and communication, as an open window to the horizons of dialogue between peoples and cultures, and a platform for delivering the voices of poets to a wide audience who share language and conscience, thus enhancing the Arab cultural movement and consecrating the emirate’s position as a beacon of Arab creativity and literature.

The program contributes to consolidating the presence of the classical Arabic language and enhancing awareness of its aesthetics, and embodies the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority’s belief in the importance of poetry as one of the most prominent pillars of Arab cultural identity, and an effective tool in preserving and reviving literary heritage, and supporting young creators and enabling them to reach a wide Arab audience.

The eleventh season of the “Prince of Poets” program witnessed a strong competition between an elite group of Arab poets who qualified for the live episodes. The Emirati poet Abdul Rahman Al-Humairi was crowned the title of “Prince of Poets”, the poet Abdul Wahed Imran from Yemen came in second place, the poet Yazan Issa from Syria third, the poet Othman Al-Hisho Qarabshi from Morocco in fourth place, and the chosen poet Abdullah Salahi from Mauritania in fifth place, while Emirati poet Asma Al Hammadi came in sixth place.

The eleventh season reflected the advanced level reached by the competition through the diversity of participating poetic experiences and the richness of the artistic visions presented by the poets, confirming the program’s position as one of the most important Arab platforms for discovering eloquent poetic talent, refining it and presenting it to a wide audience in various parts of the Arab world, continuing its role in promoting eloquent Arabic poetry and enhancing its presence in the contemporary Arab cultural scene.
