"Interior" Discusses strengthening national efforts to combat electronic fraud crimes

Ajman, 7 July / WAM / The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of the Federal Criminal Police, organized a specialized workshop in the Emirate of Ajman on combating electronic fraud crimes, with the participation of a number of senior officers and commanders, representatives of the general police commands in the country, and the relevant departments of the Ministry, as part of strengthening national efforts to address this type of crime.

His Excellency Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Al-Ahmad, Director General of the Federal Criminal Police, stressed in his opening speech that electronic fraud crimes are today among the most prominent security and societal challenges around the world, due to the direct threat they pose to individuals and institutions, and the violations of privacy they cause and the destabilization of trust in digital services and systems. He explained that this type of crime is witnessing rapid development due to modern technologies and innovative fraudulent methods that aim to lure victims into disclosing their confidential data.

Al-Ahmad pointed out the importance of integrating efforts between the security, regulatory, financial and technical authorities, in a way that enhances early monitoring mechanisms, develops reporting channels, and increases the efficiency of responding to these crimes, in addition to prosecuting their perpetrators and intensifying community awareness campaigns directed at various segments of society, stressing that this is achieved through an integrated system based on prevention, analysis, information exchange, and building effective partnerships with the competent authorities, which contributes to protecting society and enhancing its digital and financial security.

The workshop comes within the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to enhance integration and coordination between police and security agencies, and develop the system for combating electronic fraud crimes, by reviewing the most prominent challenges and developments, and exchanging experiences and best practices, in a way that enhances the efficiency of dealing with these crimes, and raises the level of community protection and prevention.

The workshop witnessed the discussion of national strategic plans to combat electronic fraud crimes in their various forms, and a review of governance mechanisms for efforts to combat them, in addition to examining ways to enhance coordination and integration between leaders and security agencies, and unify efforts in confronting common security challenges.

The participants discussed ways to develop the security work system and enhance the readiness of the competent authorities to deal with electronic fraud crimes in accordance with best practices, thus contributing to supporting community security and reducing the risks resulting from this type of crime, in addition to establishing an integrated national system capable of keeping pace with the accelerating digital security challenges.
