The UAE University organizes a forum "QS Africa 2026 for Higher Education" In Ethiopia
Al Ain, July 8 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates University, in cooperation with the international “QS” Foundation, is organizing the “QS Africa 2026 Higher Education Forum” in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, during the period from 9 to 10 July, under the slogan “Skills, Systems and a Sustainable Future,” as part of the university’s golden jubilee activities, with wide participation from university presidents and international experts.
The first day of the forum is scheduled to witness scientific discussions covering a number of topics, most notably anticipating the “Africa 2030” vision, through analyzing global benchmark indicators, demographic shifts, and research cooperation, in addition to formulating global interconnection strategies to build future-ready universities capable of driving economic growth and social progress.
The sessions will also discuss mechanisms for moving towards more flexible educational paths based on “mini-certificates and lifelong learning” to meet labor market variables by joint design with employers.
In a related context, experts discuss the “inevitability of artificial intelligence” and how universities can employ its technologies to raise the efficiency of teaching, administrative processes, and student support systems on a large scale.
Forum participants will review the requirements for academic leadership to bring about institutional transformation, with a focus on aligning academic growth with environmental and social responsibility by integrating sustainability into infrastructure, curricula, and research projects.
The first day will conclude with a round table discussing strengthening “cooperation between African and Arab universities” to build joint research systems directed at solving strategic issues such as climate security and digital transformation.
On the second day of the forum, the United Arab Emirates University is organizing a specialized discussion panel entitled “Building Institutional Capacity: Leadership, Infrastructure, and Financing,” to review practical approaches to confronting financing challenges and developing the structure of scientific research and teaching, ensuring that universities are enabled to grow and expand.
