Warned Public Health Authority “protecting” travelers outside the Kingdom from negligence in adhering to health and preventive guidelines while travelling, especially during yellow fever, and seasonal influenza, indicating that continuous assessment of risks contributes to enhancing the readiness of the public health system and raising the level of health awareness among travelers.

Health Requirements

Weqaya stressed the importance of travelers checking the health status of their travel destinations before leaving the Kingdom, and reviewing the approved health alerts and requirements, including vaccination requirements for countries that require this, and that The most important of which is the yellow fever vaccine when traveling to some endemic areas or countries that require a vaccination certificate.

The Authority explained that infectious diseases differ in their methods of transmission and level of danger; The Hanta virus is often associated with exposure to the secretions of infected rodents or contaminated environments, while the Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected or deceased person or infected animals. “Weqaya” called on travelers to avoid contact with people who show symptoms of disease, to stay away from contact with wild animals or rodents or their locations, and to avoid visiting areas witnessing outbreaks or a rise in cases of infectious diseases unless necessary, while adhering to the instructions issued by the health authorities in the destination country.

The Authority advised travelers to maintain personal hygiene, wash hands regularly, ensure the safety of food and water, and use means of prevention against mosquito bites such as insect repellents. And appropriate clothing, in addition to ensuring that there is appropriate health coverage during travel.

Necessary health measures

Weqaya recommended that travelers visit the nearest health facility when symptoms of illness appear during travel or after returning to the Kingdom, especially in the event of a history of travel to areas witnessing outbreaks, or direct contact with patients, animals, or high-risk environments, while informing the health practitioner of the travel history and any potential exposure, which contributes to speedy diagnosis and taking the necessary health measures.

The Public Health Authority called on everyone to obtain information from its official sources, avoid circulating rumors or unreliable information, and take advantage of travel alerts through the Public Health Authority’s website, in a way that contributes to protecting travelers and society from the dangers of infectious diseases.
