المملكة: Unifying curricula…a new cyber framework that controls the outputs of Saudi universities
Launched National Cybersecurity Authority The Saudi Framework for Higher Education Project at Cybersecurity to unify the requirements of academic study plans.
The framework aims to graduate qualified national cadres to meet the need and ensure the quality of educational programs at all levels.
The new project, which was put forward for public opinion poll, covers post-secondary higher education programs in public and private institutions. This includes intermediate diploma, bachelor’s, and higher diploma degrees, up to the master’s and doctoral levels.
Academic organization
The Authority excluded associate diploma programs from this academic regulation. This was justified by the fact that the intermediate diploma degree represents the minimum basic educational requirements for any job in this precise field.
The updated framework, in its second edition issued in May 2026, specifies the learning outcomes and basic and optional knowledge units for each academic degree. These modules include precise areas such as the basics of cryptography, network defense, risk analysis, and Data Protection.
New Standards
The new standards are consistent with the Unified Saudi Classification of Educational Levels and the National Qualifications Framework. In its construction, the Authority also relied on prestigious international frameworks to ensure that national outputs are consistent with modern global best practices.
The academic framework clearly separates programs specialized entirely in cybersecurity, and sub-tracks integrated within other information technology specializations. The program imposes specific admission requirements for each track and specialization to ensure the efficiency of educational inputs.
Technical developments
The Authority confirmed that the requirements for the study plans contained in the document will be subject to periodic review and updating. This step aims to keep pace with the rapid technical developments that cyberspace is constantly witnessing and to deal with emerging threats.
