Dubai Municipality honors the winners of the competition "The most beautiful sustainable home garden"

Dubai, 16 July / WAM / Dubai Municipality honored the winners of the third edition of the “Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden in Dubai” competition in recognition of their excellence in adopting the best sustainable agricultural practices and presenting innovative models of home gardens that combine beauty, environmental efficiency, and optimal use of natural resources.

The objectives of the competition are integrated with the municipality’s efforts aimed at involving local communities in beautifying the city, increasing the green area, and consolidating the concepts of environmental sustainability in line with the objectives of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and Dubai’s vision towards a more sustainable, attractive and quality of life city.

The competition, organized by Dubai Municipality, witnessed the participation of more than 100 home gardens from various regions of the emirate, of which 18 homes qualified for the field evaluation stage before 10 winners were selected from citizens and residents in a scene that reflects the breadth of the culture of sustainable agriculture, the beautification of the city, the high level of environmental awareness among community members, and the consolidation of the concept of community partnership in achieving sustainable development goals.

In which the winners of the first ten places were honored, it represents a model of effective partnership between the municipality and the community in achieving sustainability goals, and that consolidating environmental culture begins with daily practices inside homes, and that home gardens constitute an important tributary to enhancing biodiversity, increasing green areas, and improving the quality of life.”

Al-Awadi added that the continued demand for participation in the competition reflects the growing community awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability and the role of home gardens in supporting environmental security and enhancing the aesthetic identity of the emirate.

The total value of the competition prizes amounted to 300 thousand dirhams, and Nafisa Al Falasi won first place and a financial prize of 100 thousand dirhams after her garden was distinguished by a large and thoughtful diversity of plant varieties appropriate to the local climate and the distinguished health condition of the plants, which reflects a high level of attention and regular maintenance.

Maryam Al Nuaimi won second place and a prize worth 70,000 dirhams. Her garden was distinguished by its integration and harmony in design, implementation and management methods, high efficiency in producing home compost in an organized and perfect manner, in addition to the advanced level of plant health and continuous care for it.

Jamal Al-Matari came in third place with a prize of 40,000 dirhams. His garden was distinguished by its great diversity of trees, shrubs and plants, in addition to the excellent health condition of the plants and the clear level of care and maintenance throughout the garden.

The top five place holders were also awarded the “Most Beautiful Sustainable Home Garden” medal in recognition of their excellence in applying the best sustainable agricultural practices and their creativity in designing home gardens.

The entries underwent an integrated evaluation process by a group of experts, specialists and engineers specialized in the field of agriculture, sustainability and city beautification.
