المملكة: A European-Gulf statement condemning Iran’s attacks against ships in the Strait of Hormuz


Condemned , in the strongest terms attacks carried out by and against the sovereign territories of the countries of the region, according to "Newsletter"

The statement stated that freedom of navigation, including the right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, is guaranteed under international law, as a strait used for international navigation, as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

This comes within a joint statement between the High Representative of the European Union and Bahrain in its capacity as President of the Gulf Cooperation Council regarding the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation.

The statement stressed the rejection of any Illegal claims of sovereignty or control over the Strait of Hormuz, and opposition to the imposition of permits or fees on international shipping traffic.

He expressed his full solidarity with the countries affected by the Iranian attacks, stressing that any attack on the security of one country represents a source of concern for all parties dependent on the safety of the Strait of Hormuz.

Commitment to dialogue and diplomacy

The statement called on Iran to immediately and unconditionally stop all attacks. And interventions in maritime navigation, and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open in a sustainable manner and without conditions or fees.

The statement also called for restraint, and stressed the commitment to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
