The UAE and Jordan sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint committee for consular affairs
Abu Dhabi, July 24, 2026 – Thursday, July 23, 2026, witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the United Arab Emirates and the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to establish a joint committee for consular affairs, at the General Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on the Emirati side by His Excellency Faisal Issa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while it was signed on the Jordanian side by His Excellency Ambassador Majid Thalji Al-Qatarneh, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United Arab Emirates, acting as a representative of the Jordanian government.
This memorandum is an embodiment of the established fraternal relations and close partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and based on the common interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in the consular field, in a way that contributes to developing consular work and raising the level of consular services provided to the citizens of the two brotherly countries.
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of a number of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Omar Al-Atoum, Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
